On a Health Note

Well, today I had my Life Wellness personal assessment where I received the results on my blood pressure, cholesterol level, body fat %, stress level, cancer risk, substance use and nutrition status. I would like you all to know that I have the health age of a 26 year old with the potential target age of an 18 year old. I am just happy that all of those delicious foods and beverages have only taken away a year of my life.

Here’s the good news, my coronary risk is low, my cancer risk is low, but my nutrition status is undesirable (don’t tell Katie Davis), so my new goals involve eating breakfast and fruits and veggies for lunch. I also get a free pedometer because I am now part of a health study (which is the second time in my life, the first being the time I got my wisdom teeth taken out for free as long as I tried a new drug/painkiller; I felt like a lab rat).

My blood pressure was 136/80, a bit high, but it is usually 120-125/80, I must have been nervous. I have a blood cholesterol level of 142 and my triglycerides are desirable. I had to fast for 12 hours before the tests were run and my elevated blood sugar level was at 90; my blood is sweet.

I am also 24% body fat. I didn't need a doctor to tell me that. On a better note, all of the ladies around me scored worse. They are skinnier, but have no muscle.

I have decided to eat vegetables, wheat toast and Hummus. Wish me luck with my endeavors.

Very impressive stats. You should have TJ wear your pedometer when he goes running. The scientists will see that you have taken lots and lots of steps during the day, but your health conditions have remained unchanged. They will deem you a scientific anomaly.

Where does pizza fit in with this new healthy lifestyle, Mr. Rumbler?

I long to prove science incorrect, and this may be my one chance. Too long has science proved me wrong, too long his its theories and conclusions lead to unnecessary change.

Dear Curious Pizza Fan, identify yourself, you are lucky I use a Mac because had I used a PC, my VISTA would have blocked your spam. Pizza has always been healthy, it fits perfectly with my current and ongoing healthy lifestyle.

If you have a concern, please voice it.

I think your best asset in your quest to prove science wrong is the genes you inherited from Grandma. She survived for years on nothing but Snickers and Coke. All these "scientists" would have told you that was physically impossible, but we all saw it with our own eyes. Onward, then. Do not be dismayed. Continue with your diet of pizza, root beer, Dr. Pepper, and cheese bread. Science will be defeated at long last.

Good for you Juddy. Way to help advance the cause of science. Also, I think it's awesome that you're working on eating breakfast and more fruits and veggies. I think you'll notice you have more energy and feel better too.

There are no good and bad foods so pizza certainly can fit. It's all about moderation.

Keep up the good work! (Sorry the dietitian in me prevents me from making any witty or clever comments such as the aforementioned :).

I feel it necessary to report that Judd's idea of breakfast is Carnation Choclate Shakes. I haven't seen any increase in vegetable or fruit intake, but there is a new carton of Baby Ruth ice cream in the freezer. Judd: I say stick with the current routine I heard the following quote from a girl this week 'Judd has every girl in the ward wrapped around his finger'. Obviously the current diet is working fine.

Judd, in order to maximize and get the most out of your carnation chocolate shake, I would recommend cracking a raw egg and blending it in to the mix. Delicous and very healthy.

TJ, no more quotes from my mom. But I must admit that I bought the Instant Breakfasts long before my health evaluation. Darth Sman, great idea with the eggs. I am at a loss for Breakfast, it takes time, I'm not used to eating, and then I'm not as hungry at lunch. We should get rid of breakfast and focus on two meals a day, then we can make Lunch the most important meal.

Rumbler, I have an instant breakfast for breakfast every day (sans raw eggs and salmonella flavoring) and my dietician wife says that its good for me because its fortified with many good nutrients. It keeps me full, but if I need to stay full longer, I will also eat a piece of great harvest wheat toast with it.

And TJ, I believe Rumbler resolved to start eating veggies at lunch, not at every meal. Too sharp of an increase in vegetable consumption could shock the system.

Big I,

Thanks for having the Rumbler's back, there was some Tj hating and it wasn't necessary. I enjoy Carnation Instant breakfasts, and of course bacon to start off each day. I haven't integrated wheat toast, but that would go great with the egg that I cook in the leftover bacon grease.

Rumbler,

Your blog has gotten boring lately. When can we expect a new post?

I must confess that it takes a strong person to commit to only eating veggies, wheat toast, and hummus! However, I am assuming that you did not find that diet as attractive as the one previous to that decision. (To argue that Phil's BBQ is vegetarian would be a bit of a stretch.)I must admit that, although you must employ the means of persuasion and intimidation to secure a spot to eat, I was impressed with Phil's take on BBQ.

I second that. Boring

Emily, (non-blakesley; yet (we had some smokin' chemistry)) First, thank you for your readership, second, a Phils-only BBQ would be the ideal diet.

Sman, and mr anonymous - for your information the "therumbler.blogspot.awesome.com" is under construction. The nation will have to wait. And this blog has never been, or will be considered "boring." That term may only be used in response to a movie, conversation, or a date.

Rumbler,

Your movies, conversations, dates, and life must be boring then because it is reflected that way in your lack of blogging.

I apologize for directly calling your blog boring.
